Motorola Edge 30 goes on sale in India on 19th May 2022. This phone has created a lot of hype because Motorola claims it to be the thinnest and lightest 5G Smartphone.
It is available in 6/128GB and 8/128GB variants. It has been launched in two colors as of now,
- Meteor Gray,
- Aurora Green
I’ll give you a quick and unbiased analysis of what to expect from it. I’ll also rate different segments of the phone.
1) Design (9/10)
Motorola has taken a big step forward in its design. Edge 30 is slim, weighs light, and looks premium even after not having a glass back. It weighs approximately 155g and is 6.8mm thick. It neither looks big nor small on normal-sized hands and fits perfectly. The aurora green color stands out.
2) Performance (9/10)
Motorola Edge 30 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus processor and has an Octa-Core processor. Its performance is better than any other competitor in the market. Gaming, video rendering, throttle test, or be it any other criteria, comes out at the top on most of them.
I played games like PUBG, COD, and Asphalt, and the phone performed well. It heated a little, but that is normal after heavy use.
I also played a lot of live videos or streams from different applications. I watched movies, live tv, and highlights continuously, but it performed well.
I also tested the performance by mirroring the phone to the TV, and it did not disappoint. I have an Amazon FireStick, and I wanted to mirror my smartphone to play a live football match on a large screen. I was using a website to play a live game on Edge 30. It was an easy process overall, but several multiple steps at a time were not something I was expecting.
But I did all these steps to test out the performance of this phone. If you own an Amazon Firestick, you can also fully utilize that to watch live sports, TV shows, and movies. There are a lot of applications that allow you to watch this type of content on your Firestick and for free. You can select any application you like from this huge list of streaming apps.
I also used my phone as a Firestick remote to record the response time. It was quick, and I felt no lag at all.
3) Camera (7/10)
The rear camera of the phone is good. It does not boost colors and tries to give you a natural picture. The rear camera is equally good at night. However, the macro and front cameras are not up to the mark.
4) Battery (8/10)
You can’t expect a 5-6k mAh battery in such a slim phone. Moto Edge 30 has a 4020 mAh battery that lasts for a day after normal use. Also, if you use the Auto Refresh Rate feature, it can last even for half a day more. The plus point is the 33W charger that comes with the mobile and charges the phone in an hour.
5) Display (8/10)
Moto Edge 30 has a pOLED panel. The noticeable point that I can tell about this panel is the brightness. The display remains very bright even when using it outdoors. It gives you an option of a 144Hz screen refresh rate and supports HDR+.
6) Storage (8/10)
If 128GB ROM is enough for you, go for this phone. Moto Edge 30 does not have an option to expand memory(No memory card slot). You can find memory card slots in a lot of its competitors. The phone also has two nano-sim slots but doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack.
7) Sensors (9/10)
This phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner that works well. The response time and smoothness are impressive. It also has other common sensors like Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity, etc.
I have picked only those parameters that matter to normal users like me. Although if you want to know about the specifications in full detail, you can see this list.
Overall, Motorola has done an amazing job and taken a huge step. This phone is the best mid-range king out there. It provides you value for money.
Also, if you are a fan of stock android, you don’t want to miss the stock experience Moto Edge 30 gives. You can get the phone for as low as 26K by applying coupons or discounts.
If you want to check some other phones in the same range, you can see a comparison video to get a clearer picture.
