If you’re in the market for an Android tablet, you might want to consider holding off on making a purchase as Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, has just released its latest offering: the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro in China and India. With a possible launch in the UK and Europe in the near future, it’s an exciting prospect for Android tablet enthusiasts.
Xiaomi revealed the Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro in China on April 18th, alongside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra phone and Xiaomi Band 8 wearable. While the regular Pad 6 was launched in India on June 13th, there’s still no sign of the Pro model – and no hint of a UK or European release yet. The Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro were first announced in China in August 2021, with the regular model going on sale in the rest of the world months later in early 2022. This means we could expect a similarly lengthy wait this time around, with the possibility of the Pro model staying exclusive to China.
In China, the Xiaomi Pad 6 starts at ¥1,999 (around $290/£235) for the base 6GB/128GB model, while the Pro model starts from ¥2,499 (around $360/£290) for the 8GB/128GB version. In India, the Pad 6 starts from ₹26,999 (around $330/£260), the same price as the Pad 5 when it launched.
The regular Xiaomi Pad 6 features an 11-inch LCD screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2880×1800 resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 870 chip with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage in the base model. The 8840mAh battery supports 33W charging, giving you a decent battery life.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro boasts a flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip with 8GB RAM and 67W charging, which is twice as fast as the regular Pad 6. It also features quad speakers and a 20Mp selfie camera, making it a great choice for video calls.
As with most Xiaomi products, the Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro are unlikely to be available in the US. Nonetheless, if you’re interested in the Xiaomi Pad 6, keep an eye out for its potential UK and European launch.
